Jon Taylor became Rotherham’s most expensive player ever when he joined from Peterborough and the winger wasted no time in getting the deal done.
The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the AESSEAL New York Stadium for an undisclosed fee, which surpasses the £350,000 paid for Jonson Clarke-Harris in August 2014.
He becomes the sixth summer signing and will be in contention to make his debut in Saturday’s SkyBet Championship curtain-raiser against Wolves.
“There were a few clubs interested and then it went quiet, then there was some interest again, and once I heard about Rotherham I said that I wanted to get the deal done straight away,” Taylor said.
“The deal was done within minutes.
“It is a great club and I cannot wait to get started. As soon as I knew that the club were interested I was literally here within a couple of hours wanting to get the deal done.”
He becomes the third Posh player to make the switch to New York in the last four years, following Joe Newell and Lee Frecklington up the A1.
