Rotherham hope to tie up their first deals of the summer next week, assistant boss Richie Barker has said.
The Millers are attempting to build a squad capable of bouncing back from relegation to League One and have bids in for several targets, with an approach for an another player being primed.
Boss Paul Warne, who handed media duties to his number two on Thursday, had said he was hopeful of getting some deals over the line this week, but Barker says that will not come to fruition.
However, he expects movement next week as the transfer window begins to gather pace.
“I can’t see anybody coming in in the next few days,” Barker told Millers Time.
“I would like to think that we will get some positive answers at the start of next week. It would be nice to get some indication from one or two of them that they are definitely going to come.
“But in terms of somebody signing, I can’t see it being in the next few days.”
The Millers will be keen to get their business done early this year after last summer’s dithering, which saw new boss Alan Stubbs still bringing players in after the season had started.
Despite no activity so far, this year is likely to be different, with recruitment being planned since the arrival of Jamie Johnson in January and most targets already identified.
Warne has previously said he wants the majority of his squad in place before the pre-season tour to Austria in July.
