As if Rotherham missing out on Kieffer Moore wasn’t bad enough, they were also subject to a spot of cheeky goading by Barnsley.
Moore opted to join the Reds on a three-and-a-half-year deal despite a successful spell on loan at the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
The Millers made a substantial bid for Moore, while fellow League One club Peterborough also made an offer, but Barnsley won the race.
And the club’s official Twitter page was quick to humorously rub their two rivals’ noses in it as they teed up the announcement of Moore’s arrival.

On a mock-up of a train departures board they zoomed in on Barnsley, who were listed as a destination in between Rotherham and Peterborough.
Peterborough’s time of arrival was displayed as cancelled – perhaps a reference to their withdrawn bid – while Rotherham were shown as being ‘on time’.
The arrival time next to Barnsley’s name was 7pm, the time they officially announced Moore’s signing.

It is not the first time the Reds have been mischievous after signing a player the Millers wanted.
The two clubs were locked in a transfer battle for Tom Bradshaw in 2016, one that Barnsley won, despite the striker having a medical at Rotherham.
Then for the two sides’ Championship clash at Oakwell a few weeks later, Barnsley proudly made Bradshaw the featured image on the front of the matchday programme.
