Richie Towell’s future might still be up in the air, but he has described his Rotherham team-mates as “family”.
The midfielder will be returning to Brighton for pre-season at the end of the month after spending last campaign on loan at the Millers.
He played a pivotal role in promotion and admitted to Millers Time that he would be keen on a return to the AESSEAL New York Stadium.
Regardless of whether he returns or not, Towell, who has been partying in Las Vegas, will remember the bond forged with his team-mates forever.
“We are a great team, a great unit and that is down to the gaffer,” he said. “He has instilled that in us, he always harps on about good human beings and looking after each other so to go out and do it with a bunch of lads like that, we’re like family, is an amazing feeling.”
Towell reserved special praise for boss Paul Warne, who fought off early criticism from some sections and masterminded a quickfire return to the Championship.
The Irishman added: “He has been amazing, I think a lot of people wrote him off at the start of the season, we were definitely not tipped for promotion so to do it like that and for him is amazing.”
