Billy Jones will bring some much needed experience to Rotherham, says boss Paul Warne.
The 31-year-old became the Millers’ fourth summer signing when he penned a two-year deal on Friday, becoming just the third player over the age of 30 in the squad.
Jones has played over 100 games in the Premier League for West Brom and Sunderland and has also had Championship experience and Warne says that know-how will be vital.
“Most of the players I have signed or tried to sign have been young, athletic types, who are are trying to improve,” he said.
“I am well aware of the difficulties of the Championship and we definitely need some experience at the back. We rely on Woody quite a lot.
“We went and met Billy earlier in the week, really liked him, we spoke for a couple of hours and he wants to play football.

“He is not old by any stretch of the imagination but he does bring experience to our team. He can play in a few positions which will help us, I can have him as a sitting midfielder if I need to, he can play both sides, so I think it is a really good addition for us.
“I was really proud that he decided to believe what me and Richie had told him and he wanted to join us so we are really pleased.”
