Rotherham boss Paul Warne admits he is keeping tabs on Walsall’s Erhun Oztumer, who has turned down three new contract offers.
The 26-year-old, whose deal expires at the Banks’s Stadium in the summer, has been linked with a move to the Millers this week.
Warne says the attacker, who plays in the No 10 role, is on his radar, though no bid is thought to have been made.
The boss said: “I do like him. I’d be amazed if there’s a team in this league that doesn’t want to sign him.
“We’ll see where that one goes. If he became available and he wanted to come to us, I’d be interested.
“He’s a very good player. I haven’t spoken to Walsall and I wouldn’t speak to the player until I’d spoken to the club.
“I wouldn’t expect him to be here before the end of January. Everybody is coveting him. He’s done a great job at Walsall. We’re monitoring the situation.”
The Saddlers remain hopeful of keeping their star man, though it doesn’t look good owing to his three rejections so far.
“We have spoken to Erhun’s agent on three occasions and made really good offers,” Walsall chief executive Stefan Gamble said.
“Erhun up to now has declined those offers but he has not said an outright no to us.
“He has said he has got options and he wants to consider those options.”
